Since our exit from the sticks and bricks lifestyle happened from the Charlotte area, we spent an extended time at this campground from Aug 24 through Sep 4, 2017, to get some visits with family and friends in this area. We had a back-in site with full hook ups and 50 Amp service. Our Verizon cell signal was very strong and the park did have WiFi but it was not consistently adequate.

The campground is associated with and within walking distance of Carowinds Amusement Park and is in the Charlotte region with easy access to many attractions in the wider metro area. We were able to have some great visits with our sons and dear friends before leaving the Carolinas for a while. We also made huge progress on getting more settled and organized in the rig.
There is a bath house and laundry facility along with a generous pool. The sites are not overly crowded considering this campground is really about being close to the amusement park and is in an urban area. We were there over Labor Day Weekend, and it did get quite full but we were not too cramped.
We did have some significant rain while we were there, but drainage is pretty good and we didn’t have any worries about getting stuck. Good tree cover provided nice shade in the evenings. The campground staff were very helpful in receiving and handling several packages while we were there.
The main drawback for this campground is the noise. Carowinds Camp Wilderness is situated right under a major flight path for Charlotte Douglas Airport, and noise from planes taking off and landing is present throughout the day and evening.
