This was a spur of the moment stay as we had to leave North Carolina earlier than expected to avoid the heavy rainfall from Hurricane Florence. We were scheduled to be in eastern Kentucky at the end of September for a family reunion, so we looked for a place to hangout away from Florence but not too far west to minimize backtracking. That led us to land on Bowling Green, Kentucky. We stayed at Bowling Green KOA Holiday from September 13 through 19, 2018.
We had reliable full hook ups wtih 50 Amp service at our site. While the concrete patios were in good shape and large, the overall sites are very small. This led to your neighbors’ hook ups being right next to your patio. I should have taken a picture of that and am making a note to start taking pictures of the Good, the Bad AND the Ugly for future reviews !! The entrance of the campground has some nice landscape features most prominent of which is the fishing pond. There are many decorative touches all in the front part of the park.

The back side of the park is right next to I-65, and this is where the big rigs go. It seems to be a newer addition of sites and the landscaping is not as groomed or attractive. Of course, the interstate being nearby generates constant road noise in addition to nearby neighbors noise. There’s a row of long-term park residents and several of those sites were in disarray. WiFi was very poor, and the cable TV had very poor video quality.

There are numerous well-built camp cabins in the campground with several of them being adjacent to the fishing pond. New playground equipment was conveniently located in the center of the campground in a fenced in area with a soft playing surface. There’s an enclosed dog area, as well. Bowling Green KOA Holiday boasts mini-golf course a near the entrance, a camp store, covered common seating area, swinging chairs, and yard chess.

We did very much enjoy the local community and had several outings to attractions in the area. We will post a separate blog post and video about local attractions in the near future.
