Mt Princeton RV Park has a lot going for it and not least of which is it’s location. Centrally located in Colorado on the north end of the town of Buena Vista, the campground is convenient to many outdoor recreational opportunities around this part of Colorado. Access to the RV park is very easy from Route 24.
We stayed at Mt Princeton RV Park to get cleaned up, dump, fill, and do laundry between stretches of no hookups. We had been boondocking in the national forest near Salida and would be heading out for a 4-day cross county haul to Wisconsin. We were able to get in with just a few days notice and stayed for three nights.

The check-in process at Mt Princeton RV Park was very efficient, and we were assigned to site F7. The campground is split into two sections, one for pet owners and one section for those without pets – pretty smart. All sites in this campground are good size sites that will accommodate large rigs. The grounds are gravel throughout with just small patches of grass at sites in the pet section.
Our site was nothing fancy but everything worked well and we had a good view of the mountains from the front end of the site. I made full use of the laundry facilities which were immaculate. In fact, all the facilities and campground conditions in general were some of the cleanest and most orderly we have seen.

There are sparse amenities in the park, no pool and very small playground. However, when you have the surrounding playground of central Colorado, you really wouldn’t want to spend that much time in the park anyway. Buena Vista Main Street and South Main are just minutes away with numerous shops, restaurants, and the town’s waterfront park all great options for spending an afternoon. Of course there’s a lot of rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and bicycling opportunities as well.
All in all, we rate Mt Princeton RV Park an “A” as it fits the bill perfectly for making use of some hookups while in this part of Colorado and for having a very clean and hospitable environment.
