Fun Things to Do in Tampa Florida – Suncoast and Cultural Regions

Fun Things to do in Tampa Florida

Fun things to do in Tampa Florida – Honestly, the Tampa/Sarasota area is our favorite part of Florida. This area spans the Suncoast and Cultural coast regions of Florida which stretches from Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa down through Bradenton and includes Sarasota. The region names give you a hint of what makes them so great – many sunny days and lots of cultural activities.

Ladies Day out in Asheville

Ladies Day Out in Asheville – Coffee/Tea, Arts, Beverages, & Views

I recently had the pleasure of putting together a Ladies Day out in Asheville, North Carolina, with three of my best full-time RV girlfriends (see links below). Designing memorable travel experiences for groups is an art. There’s no one size fits all that will entertain every group. The mix of destinations and activities must meet a range of personalities and interests as well as other factors like physical abilities and energy levels. Fortunately, Asheville offers countless options for experiences across a wide spectrum of interests. Having visited Asheville many times while living in North Carolina, I was excited to show off this city’s many gems to my besties. You can see more of our Ladies Day out in Asheville adventures in this video from You, Me & the RV.

Small Towns in Texas – Exploring and Discovering Treasures

Small Towns in Texas — One of our favorites aspects of RV Life is exploring small towns, and we discovered some great ones in Texas. We’ve traveled through Texas several times in our first year as RV Nomads. Considering that three major interstates (I-10, I-20, and I-40) run east and west through the state of Texas, chances are, if you’re traveling in an RV around the country, you’ll be passing through the state at some point. In our first year we passed through Texas three times !!

Natchez Trace – Running Away to Tennessee with the Clarks

We’ve been on a roll lately with being able to meet up with RV friends. We first met Chris and Donna Clark of Runaway with the Clarks last October right before NomadFEST. They were at the same campground we were at along with Phil and Stacy Farley of You, Me & the RV. After our initial meeting at The Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, we palled around at NomadFEST and then met up again for the Annual Xscapers Bash in January in Lake Havasu, AZ. We followed up the bash with some boondocking down in Quartzsite and Empire Ranch and also met up briefly at a winery in Texas. Sadly, we went our separate ways in March, but we had a chance for a week long visit in the Natchez Trace area of Tennessee during the last week of May.

Wheeling with the Wendes

Wheeling Around Mobile AL with the Wendes

One of our favorite aspects of RV life is the wonderful friends we’ve made already in our first year. We met Lance and Flo Wende of Wheelin’ with the Wendes this past January at the Xscapers Annual Bash in Lake Havasu, AZ. We followed up the bash with some boondocking down in Quartzsite, and the Wende’s were part of the group of friends we corraled with during the latter part of January. We went our separate ways in February, but we had a chance for an extended stop on our way to Georgia in late March, so we took that opportunity to be neighbors with the Wendes where they were camped in southern Alabama and checked out some attractions around Mobile AL.

What’s better than the Superbowl ?!? . . .

. . . Being at Dallas (AT&T) Stadium on Thanksgiving Day to watch the Dallas Cowboys play the Washington Redskins – that’s what !!!  At least it is if you’re life-long Dallas Cowboys Fans like we are.

We have been Dallas Cowboys fans since the 70’s in large part due to our nomad childhoods.  Both our dads were in the U.S. Air Force, and we moved around quite a bit growing up.  In the 70’s the Dallas Cowboys rose to prominence as “America’s Team”, and since we didn’t really have a stationary home town, it felt only natural to cheer for America’s Team.  This year, we spent much of October and November in Texas, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to soak up some Cowboys legend and excitement.

Things to do in Bowling Green, KY

We were in Bowling Green, KY, for a few days in the middle of September and enjoyed our stay.  Bowling Green is the third-largest city in Kentucky (after Louisville and Lexington) and is located in the south central part of the state about an hour north of Nashville, TN.  The town was established in 1798 by pioneer settlers from Virginia and became a steamboat and railroad hub through the 1800’s and 1900’s. Today the city boasts a healthy economy with several industries calling Bowling Green home, including Fruit of the Loom, International Paper, and, of course, the General Motors Corvette assembly plant.  There are several enjoyable things to do in Bowling Green that we explored and definitely recommend if you’re in the area.
